for the love of something solid...

I like to think I've got a fairly firm grasp on technology.
I like to think I can trust it.
Trust my gadgets.
Trust the internet.
But then there are moments of fail.
When my Toulah my Ipod died.
When we got fooled by a ticket scam.
When you forget a friends birthday because they don't have facebook and so you don't get a reminder on the right side of the screen.
When you don't know if these people will remember your birthday get together on the weekend because they don't have facebook to remind them.
When you get to the stage yourself where you realise you essentially assume facebook will read your mind and invite people you want to come and then wake up and realise you still have to do some things yourself.
When after all this you feel a little ill & want nothing more than to spend time away from all things technological & cyber related and then realise to vent & make yourself feel better you've gone and written a blog...

for the love of that hat...

yes!
Stephen Jones winning the Outstanding Achievement Award at the British Fashion Awards makes me happy.
When I was very much younger, and people would ask me what I wanted to be when I was grew up, I had no fucking idea at all (oh how much has changed...) and so I would reply with the first thing that came into my head, "a hat maker."
Then one day someone told me that was a milliner and I thought, wow it's actually a proper job with a proper name and these days I look at this man & and my seven year old self resurfaces and I want to be a hat maker (milliner...) all over again.

My other favourite hat man is this chap
(look jonesy in le background)
as much for his wonderful hats as for his friendship with Isabella Blow
who is the greatest of them all.

for the love of the pretension this is actually about something I love...

Who is this man?

So he voted pro gay-marriage...but tried to get drinking age from 18 to 20...thinks climate change is a big issue...but denied its affects as recently as 2005? And he's head of the National Party...which may not be as scary in NZ as it is here....I think they're more centre-right...but still...right...in any case....he's not Helen.

for the love of everyone else but you...

FUCK YOU New Zealand.

Finally think the world has got it right for a little bit, and you go do something like this.
I hate you all. You are a sheep-humping, inbred race with a strange accent and yes, maybe I am a little over the top and carried away right now, but I have had a little red wine am quite passionate about this woman and not happy, not happy at all to see her go.

I love Helen Clark. She was great. And now she's gone.

for the love of america...

I feel like a kid that jumps on the band's wagon after they win hottest 100 but...

I'm SO happy!
of course I was going for him, but I think I was scared to get too close in case he didn't win. The heartbreak, you know. But now I'm going to stick a huge poster of him above my bed so he can watch me sleep. YES! for something finally going right, so it seems. No more fear of Palin. The apocalypse has been postponed for at least a few extra years. I feel good. What a day. It feels special. I'm happy.

Do you think Presets will actually be the soundtrack for the apocalypse? It'll be the end of the world and we'll go to our CD racks and think, well, this has an appropriate title and pop it on...
